How can the Bangor Daily News attract more eyeballs?

I chose this example because I worked at a news station this past summer as an intern. This was actually an issue that was a concern, how could they attract more viewers and appeal to a bigger crowd? I sat in on a few meetings and they brought up a few points that I am going to share.

The first step that was discussed was being at more local events across Maine. With being at the events, they could cover them in stories, get commentary from the participants and later they would watch the news hoping to be on it and to see their friends. This way, the crowd would want to watch the news and hopefully keep watching. All solutions involve being there in the time of the action and catching something that no one else has. It was all about manipulating the story to make is personal and meaningful when adding in someone’s personal story to an event.
