Creative Statement

As important it is in New Media to have advanced technological skills, communication is also a very important component.  My social skills and organization are where I thrive as a student.  Within this major, group work is a large part of the curriculum and every member brings a different skill to the table.  Communication is key and that is what sets me apart as a student and future employee.  I gather most of my inspiration through gathering a common ground from all of my peers.  I try to pertain my work to the people who I know would be interested in my age group.  I want my projects to be relevant to their interests.  My peers are my target audience and that it what inspires my work.

I was fortunate enough to be able to travel abroad to visit international New Media facilities.  This trip inspired me as I came back to the University of Maine with a fresh, new perspective.  Our world is developing into a deeply enriched, technological world and in order to adapt to it, we must also adapt ourselves.  Seeing an international real world perspective was one of the greatest things that has happened in my New Media career.  I wish that all New Media students got the opportunity to experience what I did when traveling abroad.  New Media offers so many opportunities, the possibilities are endless.  Seeing how it works in the real world makes me realize that I am in the right place and I have found myself as a New Media student.
